Declaration
We hereby declare that the National Academy of Arts, Republic of Korea is officially founded today in accordance with the Cultural Protection Act which was enacted and proclaimed to guarantee academic and artistic freedom and to improve scientists’ and artists’ status.
From today, the NAA will protect and develop artistic freedom guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea as an organization for Korean and foreign artists as stated by law. We will maintain our honorable duties in our mind and do our best to fulfill our obligations.
We aim to establish and develop the legitimacy of national art by inheriting traditional Korean art and accepting the essence of contemporary art from all over the world. For this purpose, we declare again that artistic freedom should be guaranteed and the nation should provide artists with better treatment.
We are fully rooted in the belief that the basis of the nation lies in artistic creation. We believe that misfortune can be endured through arts while also having it bring happiness. We pledge to cooperate with all artists in Korea and abroad in order to contribute to the undertaking of creating noble spirits, ideologies, and honor through art.
